7 Family Halloween Costume Ideas for 2023
Spooky season is here! It may be the first week of October, but Halloween tends to creep up before you know it — so it’s time to start looking for costumes for the whole family. Whether you have a small family or large brood with babies, toddlers or even teenagers, these are some great family costume ideas for 2023.
Barbie
The movie event of the year is sure to be well represented at costume parties this Halloween. If you have little girls in the family — or boys, for that matter — you can turn the whole family into Barbie Land. There are a couple of outfits from Barbie and Ken to choose from, including their eccentric cowboy look and their rollerblading get-ups. For the kids, you have choices such as the iconic Barbie Star Box or the classic aerobic exercise look. Since Barbie is all about expressing yourself, feel free to get creative with the looks for both your Barbies and your Kens.
Chipotle Family
Who doesn’t love a burrito bowl from Chipotle, especially with guacamole you’ll always gladly pay extra for? This costume idea is perfect if you have a toddler or baby in your family. The parents just need to buy themselves some Chipotle shirts — which you can find at Redbubble — to dress as an employee, while the little can go in this absolutely adorable avocado costume!
Super Mario Party
Another big movie this year was “The Super Mario Bros. Movie.” The huge roster of characters in the Mario universe can make for great group costumes you can use to create your own little Super Mario party. HalloweenCostumes.com has characters such as Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Toad, and Donkey Kong.
Ratatouille
This costume is both adorable and simple for parents. Get chefs’ coats, which can be found at Kohl’s for a very affordable price, and then dress your child up as everyone’s favorite rat chef, Ratatouille. If you can get them on your shoulders (not a baby, though, please!), this family costume will look even better.
Spider-Verse
“Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” was adored by kids and adults alike, and its biggest takeaway was simple: Anyone can be Spider-Man. Create your own little Spider-Verse among the family by dressing everyone up in different variations of Spider-Man.
Jurassic Park
Let your kids channel their inner monsters — but as cute little dinosaurs. Mom and Dad can then dress up as Dr. Ellie Sattler and Dr. Alan Grant as they chase their little ones in adorable dinosaur costumes.
The Incredibles
Even after almost 20 years (wow, now I feel old), “The Incredibles” is still a family costume that won’t go out of style. It’s perfect because you have a costume for everyone, including the baby: Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, Violet, Dash, and little Jack Jack.
