The Top Deals from Amazon’s Black Friday 2020 Sale
Amazon is the giant to beat when it comes to Black Friday, and if this year’s Prime Day deals are any indication of what to expect on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, we’re in for some deep discounts. I’ve already covered the impact that COVID-19 will have on Black Friday and the best categories for Black Friday deals. Now, I’m diving into my predictions for Amazon’s best Black Friday sales using what I learned on Prime Day, trends and last year’s savings as my guides.
One major thing I covered in my predictions for how COVID-19 might impact Black Friday is that deals will be spread out across the entire season instead of a single day. That prediction was validated as Amazon announced its Holiday Dash event, which started on October 16 and lasts through December 31, 2020. The list of discounts is massive, so I recommend checking the official announcement, which is broken out by category. To get you started, here are some highlights:
- Save up to 20% on AmazonBasics
- Save up to 40% on Star Wars toys
- Save up to 40% on Collectible toys from L.O.L. Surprise!, Calico Critters, Fingerlings, and more
- Save up to 30% on Hot Wheels toys
- Save up to 30% on Building Sets from LEGO, Magna-Tiles, and PlayMonster
- Save up to 40% on select Levi’s apparel for the whole family
- Save up to 30% on select New Balance footwear and apparel
- Save up to 30% on Zinus furniture and mattresses
- Save up to 40% on KitchenAid tools
- Save up to 20% on the Instant Pot Duo Mini Plus
- Save up to 20% on Fitbit Activity and Fitness Trackers
- Save up to 33% on select Nintendo Switch games
- Save up to 20% on Samsung TVs
- Save up to 20% on Sony TVs
- As of October 23, new Amazon Music Unlimited customers can get three months of the premium streaming tier free, to enjoy unlimited access to more than 60 million songs, ad-free and a wide selection of popular podcasts.
- As of October 16, customers using Amazon Reload to replenish their Amazon Gift Card balance for the first time will receive a $10 bonus with their reload of $100 or more. Offer available through December 31.
Those deals are on now, but I’m expecting even deeper discounts for the actual holiday. Typically, Amazon avoids producing shopping guides like other retailers and sticks to announcing its deals through press releases or each day during the week of Black Friday.
Last year, we saw Amazon devices lead the charge, which is no surprise. I’d expect much of the same this year as the third generation Echo Dot and Echo Show 5 were very popular on Prime Day. Smart home tech will also experience deep discounts as more and more people are outfitting their homes with gadgets instead of spending that money on vacations or travel. That includes popular items like iRobot’s Roomba, which is already 21% off.
AmazonBasics is the brand’s own line of just about everything you can imagine like clothing, home goods, outdoor gear and more. It has grown tremendously in the past year, and because it’s a house brand, Amazon can offer deeper discounts. You can expect the biggest deals on AmazonBasics clothing.
Finally, as Prime Day indicated, we’ll continue to see sales on Apple devices like Air Pods, Macbooks and iPads. Google will also be a part of the savings party with Nest Audio and the new, more affordable Nest thermostat dropping earlier this year.
