10 Brands That Support LGBTA+
There’s nothing wrong with being intentional with your shopping, and it’s especially important to recognize brands that go the extra mile to support the LGBTA+ community when shopping for Pride Month. Whether it’s for partnering with LGBTA+ organizations, promoting inclusion in sports and education or donating their proceeds, these brands deserve to be highlighted. As a shopper, you’ll know you’re helping to create positive change when you buy from them.
PetSmart has been an active supporter of GLSEN, an organization that provides education for LGBTA+ students free from bullying and harassment. In 2021, PetSmart will donate $100,000 to GLSEN. The company also released the You Are Loved Collection, featuring Pride toys and clothes for your furry friends such as rainbow beds and costumes.
New York City designer Zipeng Zhu collaborated with Harry’s Razors to create the artwork on a set of Pride merchandise, including razor sets, mugs, tote bags and fanny packs. Harry’s Razors announced that 100% of the profits from the limited-edition items will go to the Trevor Project, a nonprofit organization focused on suicide prevention for LGBTA+ youth.
Gap is supporting Pride month this year with the Gap Collective, a collection of Pride shirts, hoodies, hats and socks. The styles were designed by artists within Gap Inc.’s Pride group, one of Gap’s equality and belonging groups. Gap will also donate $50,000 to the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) an organization that monitors the media for defamation against the LGBTA+ community.
Eyewear retailer EyeBuyDirect has partnered with YouTube star and singer Lele Pons to create the Freedom Collection, a set of rainbow-colored frames to support the LGBTA+ community. EyeBuyDirect will donate 5% of all Freedom Collection sales to the Trevor Project.
Converse is a longtime supporter of the LGBTA+ community. It has donatedeless LGBTA+ youth af proceeds to organizations such as the Ali Forney Center, which was started in 2002 to help homter Forney’s tragic death. In 2021, Converse’s Pride collection of customizable designs were inspired by five LGBTQIA+ All Stars. Proceeds from this year’s collection will go to the It Gets Better Project, an organization that aims to empower LGBTA+ youth.
Beauty retailer Ulta celebrates Pride with its campaign Beauty Without Limits. The company will offer Pride products for brands that actively contribute to organizations such as the Trevor Project and GLAAD. This year, Ulta will sell the Pride Power Compact Styler, created by Tangle Teezer. Tangle Teezer teamed up with the Stonewall Community Foundation to create this rainbow-colored compact styler, with proceeds going to the foundation.
For 2021 Pride Month, watch retailer Fossil has created a limited-edition collection of minimalist Pride watches, each of which has its own color of the rainbow. To add even more expression, all watches can be customized with 10 rainbow-colored strap options, including colors from the transgender flag. Fossil will donate 100% of the proceeds to the Trevor Project.
Reebok’s 2021 Pride collection will feature shoes and clothes inspired by inclusion and protest signs. More inspiration comes from drag ballroom legends, which Reebok recognizes as one of the first forms of LGBTA+ resistance that provided a safe haven for anyone. Reebok will also donate to the Sylvia Rivera Law Project, an organization that provides legal aid for low-income people and people of color with any gender identity.
For 2021 Pride Month, Target is selling rainbow-colored pride merchandise. It has a multitude of clothes and accessories, including shirts, bandanas, tote bags, candles and pet supplies. The company is encouraging shoppers to post their Pride gear on social media with the #TakePride hashtag. Target has also been a collaborator with GLSEN for the past 10 years.
Adidas has been a longtime supporter of Pride Month, releasing a new collection of rainbow-inspired shoes each year. The company is also an active supporter of Athlete Ally which fights for LGBTA+ inclusion in sports. For 2021, Adidas released the Love Unites collection, featuring shoes, windbreakers and shirts.
