Pura Vida is a unique jewelry company that began in the summer of 2010 when a college graduation trip turned into a life-changing business venture for two friends, Griffin Thall and Paul Goodman. After flying to Costa Rica from Southern California, the two crossed paths with two bracelet artisans named Jorge and Joaquin, who made beautiful bracelets and lived in poverty. Thall and Goodman ordered 400 bracelets to take home with them and then placed them for sale in a bowl at a local boutique. Within days, the bracelets sold out. 

Thall and Goodman realized that people love the significance of these simple string bracelets as an embodiment of a laid-back lifestyle that takes time to enjoy the simple things and lives life to its fullest. This led them to found Pura Vida and partner with Jorge and Joaquin to help spread the “pura vida” spirit with others.

Pura vida means “pure life” in Spanish, and founders Thall and Goodman make sure that pure life is conveyed in each of their bracelets. By working with artisans around the world who handcraft their bracelets, each one is as unique as the individuals who end up wearing them. Each purchase helps provide full-time jobs for the artisans, and Pura Vida has donated more than $1.5 million to over 190 different charities around the world to help give back.
