Etsy FAQs
What protection do I have as a buyer if something goes wrong?
Etsy’s “Purchase Protection” program lets buyers get a full refund if the item doesn’t arrive, arrives damaged, arrives late (outside the estimated window), or is significantly different from the listing description.
Does Etsy guarantee every item on the site is authentic or pre-screened?
No, buying on Etsy means you’re purchasing directly from the seller (not from Etsy) and Etsy does not pre-screen all items; each seller sets their own policies and you are responsible for reading the listing and seller’s policies.
What if the item I purchased never arrives or is lost in transit?
The first step is to message the seller via “Help with Order.” If after 48 hours the seller doesn’t resolve it and the estimated delivery date has passed, you can open a case with Etsy. Qualified orders may be refunded under Purchase Protection.
