What’s Rakuten’s Refer-A-Friend program?

Rakuten offers cash bonuses to our members for spreading the word about earning Cash Back. Just send your friend a unique link by text, email or social media. If someone you refer signs up for Rakuten and makes a qualifying purchase, you can both earn a reward! The purchase requirement and reward amount can vary, but the most current promotion can always be found on this page.

What do my friends need to do?

To earn your referral bonus, your friend has to:

Sign up for Rakuten using your unique link or provide the email for your Rakuten account at sign up. (This is how we’ll know you referred them!)
Make a purchase (or a few) that qualifies for Cash Back within the specified timeframe of the bonus.

When will I receive my bonus?

Generally, you’ll receive your referral bonus within 60 days of your referral’s qualifying purchase.

What does an expired referral mean?

An expired referral means that you invited a friend to Rakuten, but they didn’t complete a qualifying purchase in time.

What does a pending referral mean?

A pending referral means that your friend joined Rakuten but hasn’t made a qualifying purchase yet. If they do, we’ll update the bonus status to earned.

What does an earned referral mean?

A earned referral means that your friend joined Rakuten and made a qualifying purchase. Once you get your referral bonus in a Big Fat Check, we’ll update the status to paid.

Why did I receive a different bonus amount than expected?

Bonus amounts are subject to change from time to time. The person who was referred to join will get the bonus that was available on day of sign up.

*Offer may be modified or cancelled anytime. Qualify for a $30 Referral Bonus when anyone whom you refer (a “Referee”) signs up to become a new member using your referral link or other method supplied by Rakuten during the period beginning 12:01AM PT October 1, 2024 and ending 11:59PM PT December 31, 2024 (“Offer Period”) and makes Qualifying Purchase(s) totaling at least $30 within 90 days of signing up. You may qualify for a Referral Bonus more than one time. You and your Referee(s) must reside and be located in the 50 United States, District of Columbia, or Canada and comply with the Refer-A-Friend Program Terms. Referral Bonus(es) will be added to your next Cash Back payment, provided that your Referee(s) are Qualified Referral(s) according to the Refer-A-Friend Program Terms. A Referee will not be a Qualified Referral if they cancel, return, or exchange their Qualifying Purchase, if their Qualifying Purchase hasn’t earned Cash Back, or if their purchase is found to be fraudulent, abusive, unethical, suspicious, or otherwise inconsistent with our Refer-A-Friend Program Terms.
