Embark was co-founded by Ryan and Adam Boyko in partnership with Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine and Spencer Wells, a pioneer in the world of consumer genetics. Ryan spent a decade using analytical approaches to make discoveries in industries such as public health, ecology and sports science. During this time, he collected dog samples from around the world to contribute to different scientific studies and eventually be the starting point for Embark. Adam is an associate professor in Biomedical Sciences where he focuses on the genomic investigation of dogs. He has researched dog evolution, history, disease, trait mapping and advanced genomic tools. Ryan and Adam’s work has helped shed light on the history of dog populations around the world and has even revealed an origin of the domestic dog near Central Asia from over 15,000 years ago.
