About Randalls

Robert Onstead joined his uncle's grocery store, Randalls Super Valu, in 1954. Using what he learned and his marketing know-how, he quickly opened a second store. A decade later, he and his partners reinvented the grocery store landscape by introducing the first discount supermarket. By advertising discounts in the windows, offering check-cashing services and selling hot deli goods right in the store, the business forever changed what it meant to go grocery shopping.
