How can I earn Rapid Rewards points, and do they expire?
You can earn points by flying with Southwest Airlines or using Southwest-branded credit cards. You can also rack up points at Southwest’s dining and shopping partners, and by booking with the airline’s hotel or rental car partners. Points do not expire as long as your account remains open.
How much are Rapid Rewards points worth, and how can I redeem them?
Valuation estimates range from about 1.1 to 1.7 cents per point, depending on flight demand. Points can be redeemed for flights without blackout dates, gift cards, hotel stays, car rentals and more. The Companion Pass is a standout feature that allows a companion to fly free, other than taxes and fees.
Can you purchase or transfer points, and do they count toward status?
You can buy, gift or transfer points, typically in blocks of 500 (or 1,000 during promotions), with a daily max of 60,000 points combined. Points purchased or transferred do not, however, count toward elite tiers such as A‑List and A‑List Preferred or the Companion Pass.
