With Rakuten Partner Rewards, you earn Cash Back via statement credits when shopping online on Facebook at participating stores.
Getting Started
What is Cash Back?
Cash Back is a percentage of your purchase you earn back through Rakuten Partner Rewards. When you click on an ad that features a Rakuten Partner Rewards offer and make a qualifying transaction using your default card, you’ll earn Cash Back. The Cash Back you earn will be applied to your card as a statement credit.
What is a statement credit?
A statement credit is money that’s added back to your card account, lowering your outstanding balance. The Cash Back you earn through qualifying Rakuten Partner Rewards transactions will be applied to your card account as a statement credit.
How do I earn Cash Back?
Earning Cash Back with Rakuten Partner Rewards is simple.
When will my statement credit appear?
The statement credit will be applied within 3 weeks. For Visa and Mastercard, it will appear on your statement as “RakutenPartnerRewards.” For American Express, it will appear as “RakutenPrtnrRwds w Facebook.”
Do I need to enroll my card every time I shop?
You only need to enroll your card once. If you see another ad later, select Shop Now to add the offer to your default card. All you have to do is pay with your enrolled card to earn Cash Back.
Do I need to upload a receipt after my purchase?
No, you don’t need to upload a receipt to earn Cash Back. When you shop on Facebook with Rakuten Partner Rewards, your default card is linked to the offer. Simply pay with your enrolled card to earn Cash Back.
We recommend that you keep your order confirmation email in case you don’t receive Cash Back as expected. We’ll need your order details to verify your transaction.
How do I know my card information is secure?
Card data is safely stored in a secure, encrypted environment that has been certified as compliant by the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PCI). Visit PCI’s site to learn more about PCI compliance. For more information on how Rakuten handles your private information, please see Rakuten’s Privacy Policy and the Rakuten Partner Rewards Program Terms & Conditions for Facebook Users.
Eligible Cards
What cards can I use?
Rakuten Partner Rewards works with most American Express, Mastercard or Visa cards. Exceptions include Macy’s American Express cards, American Express debit cards, corporate and purchasing cards, Health Savings Account cards, Flexible Spending Account cards, government-administered prepaid cards (including EBT cards), insurance prepaid cards, Visa Buxx and virtual card numbers (e.g. Apple Mastercard). Diners Club and Discover cards are not eligible for Rakuten Partner Rewards at this time.
Can I earn cash back when using mobile payment like Apple Pay, Android Pay, or Samsung Pay?
We strongly recommend using only the number on your physical card for purchases. Rakuten does not consistently receive mobile wallet transaction details from American Express, Mastercard or Visa. Without transaction details, we can’t provide Cash Back.
Why can’t I use my Diners Club and Discover cards?
We’re working to add more payment card options to the Rakuten Partner Rewards program. Check back to see when other payment options become available.
Can I use a store card for Cash Back?
Unfortunately, most store cards (even if they have a major card logo) are processed through the store’s bank and not the major card networks. This prevents us from being able to provide Cash Back on these transactions.
Can I use a card issued outside of the United States to earn Rakuten Partner Rewards?
Only cards issued in the United States are eligible to earn Cash Back at participating stores in the United States.
How many cards can I enroll?
Facebook will use the card in your Accounts Center that is designated as your default card. You must make the purchase with your default card to earn Cash Back.
How do I update my default card?
The first card you add to your Meta Accounts Center is automatically set as your default card. If you add more cards, you can manually set any of them as your default in Meta Payment Settings. If you delete your default card, the most recently added card will automatically become your new default card. You can change this later in Meta Payment Settings.
Can I remove my card from the Rakuten program after making a purchase?
Yes. To unenroll your card, visit your Meta Accounts Center in the Facebook app and select Leave next to Rakuten offers. You will no longer earn Cash Back if your card is not enrolled in Rakuten Partner Rewards. You will not receive a statement credit on your participating card’s account if your card is not enrolled in Rakuten Partner Rewards.
Adding Offers
How do I add an offer to my card?
After enrolling, click on an ad to add the offer to your card. Pay with your enrolled card to earn Cash Back.
When I add an offer to my card, do I get Rakuten Partner Rewards for all future purchases at the store?
No. Some offers may allow you to make additional qualifying purchases within 1 hour, but other offers may only be good for a single purchase. Select Show terms in the offer details to see the terms for that store.
How many times can I add an offer?
If there’s a limit on the number of times you can add an offer, it will be in the offer details. Select Show terms in the offer details to see if there’s a limit per person. For example, if an offer has a limit of three per person, you can add the offer up to three times and earn Cash Back on three separate qualifying purchases.
Do offers expire?
Yes. Expiration time varies by store, so select Show terms in the offer details to see when that offer expires. If the offer is expired, it’s no longer linked to your card and you will not receive Cash Back for your purchase.
If I make a purchase before I add an offer, will I still get cash back?
To earn Cash Back, you must add offers to your eligible American Express, Mastercard or Visa card before you make a Rakuten Partner Rewards purchase.
Redeeming Offers
How do I redeem a Rakuten Partner Rewards offer?
Once you add an offer to your eligible American Express, Mastercard or Visa card, use your enrolled card to make an online purchase.
How will I know if I’ve successfully redeemed an offer?
Rakuten will send you an email after your qualifying purchase, typically within 3 to 5 days.
How can I report a missing statement credit?
Please note that statement credits may take up to 3 weeks to be applied to your card. If it’s been longer than 3 weeks and you’re still missing a statement credit for a qualifying purchase, please contact Rakuten Member Services.
